IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald J.
Chausse
September 7, 1933 – June 14, 2024
Donald J. Chausse, age 90, passed peacefully in his sleep on June 14, 2024 after a period of declining health.
He was married for 63 years to his best friend and the love of his life, Irene (Cardoza) Chausse. He was the son of Romeo J. and Alma (Bois) Chausse. He was a 1953 graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School and proudly served in the United States Navy. He was employed by MassDOT for 36 years as a traffic maintenance engineer. In retirement he enjoyed working at Meadowbrook Driving Range. He loved spending time with family, playing cribbage with friends old and new, breakfast with the boys at the Golden Greek, and playing golf. He especially loved attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events - he was their biggest supporter! His other favorite things were cooking turkey on the holidays and making breakfast every Sunday morning for whoever walked through the door.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Joan M. Williams and her husband, Anthony, and his son Donald Chausse Jr. and his wife Paula. He is also survived by grandchildren Steven Williams (Kim), Kara Ferreira (Jordan), Scott Williams (Mackenzie Sampson), Emma Chausse, and Julia Chausse, four great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Grayson, Addison, and Jack, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Raymond Chausse, Vivianne Quasnitschka, and Claire Harb.
The family would like to thank the progressive care nurses at St. Luke's Hospital for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Feast of Blessed Sacrament Vocational Scholarship Program: Clube Madeirense S.S. Sacramento, Inc., 50 Madeira Ave., New Bedford, MA.
