Donald Garrison, Sr., 72, of New Bedford died Wednesday November 22, 2006 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in Middletown, NY, the son of the late Irwin and Dorothy (Odell) Garrison, he had lived in New Bedford since 1973.
Mr. Garrison served in the U.S. Army for 21 years until retiring as a Staff Sergeant, having served during both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He later was employed as a postal clerk at the New Bedford Post Office until his retirement.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his former wife, Barbara (Perreira) Garrison of New Bedford; four children, Donald Garrison, Jr. of Hesperia, CA, Dorothy Mommer of Boise, Idaho, Daniel Garrison and Dominga Andrews, both of New Bedford; three brothers, William Garrison, Larry Darling, and James Darling, all of New York; three sisters, Audrey Ballard of Kentucky, and Marie Darling and Emma Darling, both of New York; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
