IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doris A.
Fonseca
January 25, 1941 – February 9, 2025
Doris A. (Gomes) Fonseca, 84, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday February 9, 2025 surrounded by her beloved family.
Born on January 25, 1941 in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Frances (Andrews) Gomes, Richard Gomes, and Olympia (Drake) Gomes.
Doris was a faithful and devoted Catholic. Being a Boston Celtics fan was a lifelong passion, but her greatest joy came from the love she shared with her family. As a mother, she was devoted beyond measure, always there with support, guidance, and a heart full of love. As a grandmother, she poured that same devotion into her grandchildren and great-grandchild, creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. Doris' loss is deeply felt by her family and all those who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength, resilience, and generosity in those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her children, Edward, Edwin, Laurie, Russell, Allann, Allison, and Christine; her brother, James Gomes; her sisters, Eva Gomes and Roslaine Gomes; her grandchildren, Brandin, Brittany, Janelle, Erika, Paris, Cameron, Matthew, Myah, Brianna, Qadry, Jarryn, Brooklyn, and Kelyn; and her great-grandchild, Nova. She will be greatly missed by all.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Mario Gomes, Jeanette Tavares, George Gomes, Julia Gomes, Shirley Gomes-Carle, and Richard Gomes.
Her visitation will be held on Monday February 17, 2025 from 9-10:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 47 South Sixth St., New Bedford
