Dorothy R. Andrade

Dorothy R. (Duarte) Andrade, 92, of New Bedford passed away Monday, March 2, 2026 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Francisco J. Andrade.

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Roberto and Guilhermina (Rozario) Duarte, she lived in New Bedford for all of her life.

Dot was employed as a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance for 28 years until her retirement. She had also been employed as a stitcher for 34 years and worked at both CVS and Building 19.

She enjoyed taking painting and pottery classes and walking her dog.

Dot is survived by five sisters, Patricia Barboza, Evelyn Metivier, Marie Gracia, Kathleen Almeida, and Irene Duarte; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her two sons, Dennis Austin Andrade and Francisco Douglas Andrade; and two sisters, Laura Gonsalves and Roberta Lovegrove.

Her Funeral will be held Monday, March 9, 2026 at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
