Dorothy A. (Fournier) Arnold, 84, of New Bedford died Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Vantage of New Bedford after a period of declining health.

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Arthur and Ann (Burns) Fournier, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.

Dorothy attended New Bedford Vocational School.

She was employed at Acushnet Rubber Company for many years until her retirement.

Dorothy was an avid runner, animal lover, and was a fan of boxing, MMA fights, the Boston Celtics, and the New England Patriots. She was a non-stop person with an abundance of energy who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Dorothy also had a special place in her heart for New Bedford Firefighters, as her son Billy was a member of the Department.

She is survived by her son, William "Billy" Arnold; her sister, Susan Souza; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her visiting hours will be held Monday, July 28, 2025 from 4-7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, with a funeral service at 6:30 PM, during the visitation. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to the New Bedford Fire Museum, 51 Bedford St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
