Dorothy (Mendes) Burr, 75, of New Bedford died Monday November 23, 2015 unexpectedly at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Born in East Freetown, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Lopes) Mendes, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

Mrs. Burr was a member of the Susan A. Sullivou Temple #94.

She is survived by three children, Donna Burr and Kenneth Burr, both of New Bedford, and Aaron Burr of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Adeline Delgado of Florida and Cecilia Rose of New Bedford; eleven grandchildren, including Kendra Burr with whom she resided; eight great-grandchildren; her special niece, Doreen Mendes of New Bedford; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was the mother of the late David Lee Burr, Jr., and sister of the late Fred Mendes, George Mendes, Joseph Mendes, Jr., Diana Wheatley, and Mae Pina.
