Dorothy R. (Rose) Campbell, 87, of New Bedford died July 17, 2003 at Blaire House after a long illness.

She was the wife of the late Edward Campbell and daughter of the late Jose and Mathilde (Pires) Rose.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Mattapoisett and lived in New Bedford most of her life.

She was formerly employed by State Theater for many years until her retirement. Mrs. Campbell later was employed at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for several years.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Joann Mendoza of Providence, Kathleen Rose and Francine Coombs, and her husband Gordon, all of New Bedford; a brother, John King, and his wife Jane, of New Bedford; a son-in-law, Paul Almeida of New Bedford; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Paulette Almeida, grandmother of the late Paul M. Coombs, Sr., and sister of the late Manuel Rose, John Rose, Eugenia Monteiro, Julia Monteiro, Jenny Fortes, Mary Perez and Charlotte Connolly.

Her Funeral will be private.
