Douglas M. Borges

Douglas M. Borges, 67, passed away unexpectedly on October 15, 2026, at Lakeland Regional Hospital in Lakeland, Florida, due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident, with his daughter Crystal lovingly by his side.

Born on April 6, 1959, Douglas was the son of the late Manuel and Alice Lillian (Haskins) Borges. He grew up in North Fairhaven, Massachusetts, where he was raised by his loving mother alongside his four younger brothers. Douglas was predeceased by his beloved son, Shain Douglas Borges.

He is survived by his son, Shawn Edward Borges, and his wife, Alissa, along with their two children, Landon and Isabel. He is also survived by his daughter, Crystal Ann (Borges) Costa, and his son-in-law, Jonathan, along with their three children, Madison, Lily, and Ty, of Fairhaven. He also leaves behind his former wife, Lori (Ponte) Borges, of Fairhaven.

Douglas is also survived by his brothers, Jeffrey Borges and his wife, Joanne, of Fairhaven, Robert Borges of West Wareham, Timothy Borges and his wife, Lori, of New Bedford, and Craig Borges of New Bedford; his last living aunt, Gail Elliott, of Fairhaven, with whom he shared a special bond; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Douglas began his adult life in New England, where he began his career and started his family. He later made Florida his home, working in corporate lighting design for PSAV/Encore, where he recently retired from after 30 years of service. Although he loved the warmth and sunshine of Florida, Fairhaven always held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every opportunity to return home to be with his family.

Among Douglas’s most treasured memories, were vacationing and cruising alongside his daughter and grandchildren. He loved visiting New England for holidays and in the summer months. His unapologetic passion for politics was something he wore proudly on his sleeve, and he was always up for a friendly debate. Whether he was sharing stories, cracking jokes, or simply spending time with the people he loved, Douglas had a way of making every moment memorable.

Those who knew Douglas will remember his humor, his laughter, and his ability to light up any room, literally! Although his passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him, the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will live on through his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Douglas’ burial at Riverside Cemetery will be held privately at a later date. For online guestbook, visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
