Edalina (Santos) Sylvia, 83, of Brockton died March 3, 2004 at Brockton Hospital after a brief illness.

She was the wife of the late Frank M. Sylvia and daughter of the late Francisco L. and Maria E. (Lacerda) Santos.

Mrs. Sylvia was born in New Bedford and had lived in Brockton and Boston most of her life.

Survivors include 4 sons, Frank Sylvia of Marion, Ronald Sylvia and Paul Sylvia, both of Los Angeles and John Sylvia, and his wife Yvonne Sylvia, of Douglasville, GA; 2 daughters, Francine Sylvia of Los Angeles and Maria Sylvia of Brockton; 2 sisters, Deonilda Rosa, and her husband Al, and Stephanie Correia, and her husband Walter, all of New Bedford; a sister-in-law, Theresa "Penny" Santos of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Bernardo Sylvia, grandmother of the late Marcus Sylvia and sister of the late Francisco "Fudgie" Santos, Jr. and Luiz "Popsicle" Santos.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordMonday, March 8th at 8 AM.Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
