Edna (Thacker) Bussiere, 91, of New Bedford died January 3, 2013 at St. Anne's Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Roger Bussiere, the love of her life, with whom she shared 40 years of marriage.
Born in Great Yarmouth, England on September 27, 1921, the daughter of the late John and Beatrice M. (Spink) Thacker, a war bride of World War II, she lived in New Bedford for 65 years.
Survivors include her 3 daughters, Valerie Leger and Robin Xifaras and her fiancé Frank Medeiros, all of New Bedford and Camille Dawn Xifaras and her companion Glenn Camara of Assonet; a brother, Dennis Thacker and his wife Isabel, of England; a sister, Olive Kevern and her husband Ray, of England; 2 sisters-in-law, Judy Thacker, and Barbara Thacker, both of England; 7 grandchildren, Jaime Leger, Nicole Xifaras, Tecia Xifaras, Christie Gomes, Jason Rebeiro, Tracy Swindler and Todd Leger; 17 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Freida Thacker, Joy Thacker, John Thacker and Roy Thacker.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 12th at 11 AM in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Cross Road, Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
