Eleanor M. (Madeiros) Hardin Zeude, 89, of New Bedford passed away Thursday November 5, 2020 after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Hardin and the late Aurelien Marcel "Ray" Zeude.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Philip and Minnie (Sanford) Madeiros, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life and wintered in West Palm Beach, Florida for many years.

Ellie was formerly employed in the card department at Saltmarsh's in Downtown New Bedford. She was also a very talented designer who took great pride in decorating the store and the storefront windows.

She enjoyed traveling, sewing, painting, drawing, decorating for the holidays, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, David J. Hardin; two brothers, Donald Madeiros and Kenneth Madeiros; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late John P. Hardin, Margaret "Peggy" Souza, and Elizabeth M. Duarte, and sister of the late Philip Madeiros, Dorothy Linkowicz, and Susan Valencia.
