IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth A.
Bright
January 12, 1960 – June 30, 2025
With heavy hearts, the family of Elizabeth Agnes Bright announces her passing on June 30, 2025, at the age of 65.
Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, to John Bright and Jane McDonald, Elizabeth later made her home in New Bedford, MA.
A Veteran of the U.S. Army, Elizabeth proudly served while stationed in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Following her service, she earned her nursing degree from Salve Regina University. Throughout her nursing career, she dedicated herself to caring for others with compassion and integrity, which had a lasting impact on patients and colleagues alike.
A woman of faith, Elizabeth was active in her spiritual life and found a welcoming community at Hope Evangelical Community Church in her later years.
Elizabeth cherished spending time with her family and friends and found joy in simple pleasures — especially visits to New Hampshire, where she found peace. She was also a devoted animal lover who adored her two dogs, Gus and Lola, who brought her comfort and companionship. She is preceded by her late parents John and Jane Bright and late siblings Joy Hambly and John Bright.
She is survived by her four children, Jessica Bosworth, Victoria Bright, Roger Houghton, and Elijah Houghton; her sisters, Katherine Martin and Tammy Bonome; her grandchildren; and many dear friends.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who supported and cared for Elizabeth throughout her life.
Elizabeth's Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at 12 Noon in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Her family will receive guests Wednesday from 11 AM – 12 Noon, prior to the service. Burial will take place at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
