Ethel L. (Smith) Brightman, 79, of New Bedford died November 26, 2001 at Mediplex Rehabilitation Hospital after a brief illness.

She was the wife of the late William C. Brightman,and daughter of the late Howard S. and Esther M. (Pilkington) Smith.

Mrs. Brightman was born in St. George, Maine and had lived in New Bedford since 1934.

She enjoyed playing Keno.

Survivors include a daughter, Grace I. Nicely of New Bedford; 2 sons, William Brightman of Acushnet and Daniel Dakin of Oregon; 5 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was the mother of the late Ronald Brightman.

Private Services were held on Thursday, November 29th, at the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial was in Rural Cemetery.
