Eugenia (Fernandes) DePina, 80, of New Bedford died June 25, 2013 unexpectedly at Beth Israel Hospital.
She was the wife of Oliveiros DePina with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Eugenio and Margarida (Gilmete) Fernandes, she lived in Brava before moving to New Bedford in 1975.
Mrs. DePina was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She enjoyed music and singing.
Survivors include her husband and their 10 children, Maria Ribeiro, Amancio DePina, Madalena Guevara, Eugenio DePina, Margarida DePina, Ecilda Andrade, Oliveiro DePina, Manuel DePina, Julia DePina and Eduardo DePina; a brother, Joao Fernandes; 4 sisters, Ana Andrade, Laura Gomes, Angela Gilmete and Julia Fernandes; a step-son, Olavo DaLomba; 40 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Saturday, June 29th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, June 28th from 4-8 PM.
