Eugenia M. (Grace) Lomba, 91, of New Bedford died April 17, 2025 at Vantage at New Bedford. She was the wife of the late John Lombardi.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Francisco and Maria (Pina) Grace, she lived in New Bedford most of her life. Before starting a family she did some traveling and then lived in New Jersey for some time before returning to New Bedford where she raised her family.
She was formerly employed at Saltmarsh as a manager for the stationary department until it closed. She then went to work at the Dartmouth Children's Museum, a place she absolutely loved. Her later years were spent working at the New Bedford Art Museum making many new friends before retiring.
Jenny loved cooking for her family. She was known for many dishes but especially for her banana bread. She had a large collection of cookbooks. Jenny always looked forward to the Cape Verdean Independence Celebration and family reunion. She loved playing Bingo at various church halls. She enjoyed road trips to Gloucester. Jenny loved going to find new places to eat out especially with her Taber Mill friends. Later in life she took up artwork that involved intricate pencil colorings of birds and flowers.
Survivors include her 5 loving children; Loretta Peres of Gloucester, Geraldine Lindo and her husband Joe of New Bedford; Jonathan Lomba of Florida, Suzette DeGrace of Gloucester and Valerie Lomba of Maine; a brother, Francisco Grace of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Genevieve Pierson of Virginia and Eleanor Jones of Ohio; 9 grandchildren, Amanda Lomba, Adara Peres, Alana Peres, Malisha Casey, Jaelee Lomba, Anthony Gilbert, Jonathan Pina, Timothy Lomba, and Darean Lomba; 6 great-grandchildren, Alexis, Naveh, Monty, Denim, Demi and Sayo; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was the mother-in-law of the late Emin Lomba; the sister of the late Manuel Grace, Clara Correia, Amelia Rose, Valentina Erwin, Josephine Grace, Albert Grace and Louis Grace.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM.
