Eugenio Barbosa, 83, of New Bedford died Friday May 16, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Luiza (DaLomba) Barbosa; they had been married for 51 years.

Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the son of the late Damaso and Maria (DeBurgo) Barbosa, he lived in New Bedford for many years.

Mr. Barbosa was formerly employed as a card tender at the Berkshire-Hathaway Mill. He had also worked as a landscaper.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, Joao Barbosa and his wife Autilia of Marion; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was the brother of the late Jose Barbosa.


His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday 5-8 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
