Evelyn (Mosby) Newson, 96, of Fairhaven died January 7, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Elige Newson.
Born in Swiftown, Mississippi, daughter of the late Henry Mosby and Adele (Campbell) Cheeks, she lived in Swiftown, Mississippi before moving to South Bend, Indiana and then to Fairhaven in 2006.
Evelyn was a member of Antioch Church in South Bend, Indiana.
She was formerly employed by Exacto Manufacturing for 18 years until her retirement.
Evelyn enjoyed family gatherings, gardening, ceramics, drawing, arts and crafts especially cooking which she excelled at.
Survivors include her 2 sons, Earl Mosby and his wife Anne of Fairhaven, MA and Jerome Mosby of Denver, CO; 3 sisters, Paulette Howard of Cleveland, OH, Pearlie Denson of Euclid, OH and Helen Britt of Beachwood, OH; 2 brothers, George Cheeks and Wardell Cheeks, both of Cleveland, OH; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Sarah Bernice Flanks, Margaret Bethea, Albert Cheeks, Haywood Cheeks, Edward Cheeks and Frank Houston Cheeks.
Her visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 11th from 2-6 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.  Family and friends are invited to the repast on Saturday, January 11th at 6:15 PM at Clube Ponta Delgada 61 Madeira Ave., New Bedford, MA 02746.
