Everett Timothy “Tim” Lobo, 81, of New Bedford passed away at St. Luke's hospital, Monday June 15, 2026 after a long and gallant fight against cancer.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Laurencio and Dominga (Neves) Lobo, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Dolores, Jack, Carol, Charles, Peter and Mary.
He is currently survived by his siblings, Wayne, Rose, Jean, John, Roberta, Michael, Christine and Franklin. He also leaves behind many loved and cherished nieces and nephews down the line to great-great! Too many to name - but always remembered.
Tim was proud to be a part of the city of New Bedford. After his service in the United States Air Force, he returned to New Bedford and worked at the former First National Bank. From there, he returned to school at the former Southeastern Massachusetts University to study textiles before turning his focus back to New Bedford as the store keeper at the City Yard as a civil servant. He ran a tight ship against waste and the city was able to initiate new projects to keep New Bedford looking good. He proudly professed his loud insistence to help initiate interest in the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park.
After his retirement he always kept active - a great example to anyone. People know he had many passions and interests: history, sailing, Flamenco music, and of course the music and culture of Cape Verde.
His funeral will be held on Saturday June 20th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 10 AM. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday June 19th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, 47 South Sixth St., New Bedford, MA 02740 or to the charity of one’s choice.
