Francis "Frank" Almeida, 60, of Lakeville died Wednesday March 19, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Donna (Lavoie) Almeida.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Ezekiel and Annie (Tchorz) Almeida, he lived in New Bedford and Lakeville for most of his life.

Mr. Almeida was formerly employed as a forklift operator at Teledyne/Rodney Metals.

He was a member of the Teamster Union.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Shannon Uhrie of Newmarket, NH, and Sean Murphy of New Bedford; a brother, Leonard Tchorz of Fairhaven; two sisters, Kathleen Castello and Anne Barboza, both of Largo, FL; two grandchildren, Erik Englehart and Brody Uhrie; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Michael Almeida.

His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 4 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Visitation with the family will continue after the service until 8 PM.
