Francis J. Hart, 84, of Dartmouth passed away at home on Sunday August 3, 2025 after a long illness. He was the husband of Judith J. (Sylvia) Hart.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late Thomas L. and Sarah L. (Phaneuf) Hart, he lived in Dartmouth for most of his life. He attended New Bedford Vocational High School and graduated from New Bedford High School.
Frannie was formerly employed as a sales representative for Lesco Tobacco and Candy Company and R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company until his retirement.
He served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard and was called to active duty with the Army in 1961 during the Berlin Crisis.
An avid golfer, he a former member of the Country Club of New Bedford and the Whaling City Golf Course.
He is survived by his wife Judi; his children, Jeffrey P. Hart and his wife Lisa, and Kristine E. Hart-Germane and her husband David Germane; his grandchildren, Daniel and Emily Hart-Germane; his brother, Thomas J. Hart and his wife Jeanne; his nieces, Cathy Medo and Susan Hart; his brother-in-law, Gary Sylvia and his wife Sally Bernstein; and several other nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Robert J. Hart.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday August 6th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth at 10 AM. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday August 5, 2025 from 4-7 PM.
