Gail (Vaitses) Elen, 84, of Fairhaven, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2024. She was the wife of the late Peter Elen.

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Allan and Mable (Wakeman) Vaitses, she lived in Mattapoisett most of her life before moving to Fairhaven in 2014.

Gail held many jobs throughout her life, including being a substitute teacher, a legal secretary, and most recently working at Foster Grant Magnivision.

Gail enjoyed reading, making candles, sailing, going to the beach, traveling, and making arts and crafts. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from Boston University.

Survivors include her son, Peter Elen of Fairhaven; her brother Stephen P. Vaitses; her nephews; Stephen E. Vaitses and Allan Vaitses II and his wife Lora Vaitses; her nieces Allayne Boruch and her husband John Boruch, Jr., and Megan Dias and her husband Steven Dias; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, June 23rd at 12:00 PM followed by visiting hours from 12:30 - 2:30 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett.
