Obituary

George F. Cathcart, 78, of Mattapoisett died June 5, 2004 at home after a long illness.

He was the husband of Gladys M. (German) Cathcart.

Born in Providence, RI, son of the late Frederick L. Cathcart and M. Marion (Tripp) Macedo and step-son of the late Antone Macedo, he lived in Mattapoisett most of his life.

He was a member and treasurer of the former Elim Baptist Church in New Bedford.

Mr. Cathcart was formerly employed as a self-employed accountant and tax preparer serving the SouthCoast area for the last 28 years.

He served in the US Marines during World War II and Korea.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Louise A. Bennett, and her husband Warren R., of New Bedford; 2 sons, James B. Lester, and his wife Bethann, of Gouldsboro, Maine and Carlton J. Cathcart, and his wife AnnMarie, of Norwood; 8 grandchildren, Valerie, James, Julie, Sarah, Matthew, Erin, Kelsey and Brendan; 2 great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Skylar.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) MattapoisettTuesday, June 8th at 12:30 PM.

Visiting hours Monday, June 7th from 5-8 PM.

Interment Massachusetts National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
