George M. Dumas, 78, of San Carlos, California, formerly of New Bedford died Saturday August 13, 2005 at San Carlos Elms Assisted Living Facility after a long illness.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late George N. and Ethel (Stanton) Dumas, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life before moving to California five years ago.

Mr. Dumas was formerly employed as a grocery manager for Almac's Supermarket for 37 years until his retirement.

Survivors include six nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Raymond Dumas and Eileen D'Ambrosio.

A private burial service was held on Saturday August 20, 2005 in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Bedford.
