George A. Pye, 47, of Dartmouth died Sunday September 11, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved fiancé of Dina Amaral of Dartmouth.

Born in New Bedford, the son of Ernest and Nancy E. (Ryan) Pye of Dartmouth, he lived in Dartmouth all of his life.

Mr. Pye was a master plumber who owned and operated Ernest Pye Plumbing and Heating for 20 years.

He was a Past President of the New Bedford Master Plumbers' Association. In his spare time, he was an avid sport fisherman and gardener. He was a graduate of Dartmouth High School, Class of 1976.

Survivors include his fiancée; his parents; a son, James R. Pye of Dartmouth; two daughters, Katie E. Pye and Holly M. Pye, both of Dartmouth; a brother, James Pye, and his wife Elizabeth, of New Bedford; and two grandchildren, Cayden J. and Cassidie J. Pye.

His Memorial Service will be held at the Seamen's Bethel on Thursday September 15, 2005 at 11 AM. Burial in South Dartmouth Cemetery will be private. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115.
