Gerald R. Lapointe, 74, of New Bedford died January 1, 2019 peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Armand and Loretta (Tardiff) Lapointe, he lived in California for 15 years before returning to New Bedford.
Mr. Lapointe was formerly employed for the City of New Bedford, Department of Public Water Works.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his sister, Leah Maness of California; his aunt, Lillian McCay; and several cousins.
His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 9th at 8:45 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. John Neumann Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 8th from 4-8 PM.
