Gertrude S. (Shea) Cook, 84, of New Bedford died February 23, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Stephen B. Cook.
Born in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late John and Mary (Adams) Shea, she was raised in New Bedford and lived in Provincetown before moving to New Bedford in 1976.
Mrs. Cook was formerly employed by J.C. Penney.
She was a graduate of Holy Family High School. She enjoyed socializing with her friends.
Survivors include her son, Lauren Cook and his companion Pam Zimmerman of Philadelphia, PA; a daughter, Stephanie Barrett and her husband Michael of Dartmouth; a sister, Lillian Mello of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren, Patrick, Timothy and Samuel; 2 great-grandchildren, Gage and Andreia; and several nieces and nephews.

Her visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 4th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
