Gertrude Crowley McCormack, 81 of Mattapoisett MA, known to all who loved her as Trudy, passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2026.
Trudy was born in Bristol, CT to Edmund S. Crowley and Gertude M. Crowley on October 2,1944. She married Thomas P. McCormack MD on July 1, 1967 and enjoyed 57 years of marriage until his passing in 2025.
Trudy was a proud alum of Salve Regina University, attending her 60th reunion this past May. She built a career as an Elementary School teacher in both Arlington VA and Warwick RI. later in life, she became a Real Estate Agent for the South Coast region of Massachusetts. But her greatest joy was raising her family alongside Tom in Mattapoisett.
She cherished her morning coffee with friends downtown and was always available for a game of Bridge, Rummy or Bingo. Trudy's passion for genealogy led her overseas, where she fostered meaningful friendships with extended family in both England and Ireland, ultimately building a second home in Eyeries, County Cork where she visited almost every year, eventually splitting her time with Tom between Mattapoisett, Eyeries, and Jupiter, FL where many friends remain.
She is survived by her 3 children - Maureen Chamberlain of Mattapoisett MA, Patrick McCormack and wife Lynn of Brunswick ME, Brendan McCormack of Foxborough MA; her grandchildren, Jack, Aidan, Thomas and Quinn; her sister Margaret Crowley, RSM of Hartford CT, as well as all of her In-laws, cousins and friends who loved her as she loved them.
She is predeceased by her husband Tom, her parents Edmund and Gertrude Crowley, her brother Edmund D. Crowley and her sister Dolores Crowley RSM.
A private service will be held at a later date to honor Trudy's life.
