Gilbert Ventura, 74, of Fairhaven died unexpectedly at home Tuesday, January 1, 2019.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Gilbert and Cora (Ostman) Ventura, he had lived in Fairhaven for many years.

Gilbert was employed as a commercial fisherman and Merchant Marine for many years until his retirement.

He is survived by his son, James Ventura; his daughter, Lisa Randazzo and her wife Denise; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
