Obituary

Gloria F.R. (Enos) Koczerga, 99, of New Bedford died peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2025 just one week shy of her 100th birthday. She was the wife of the late Stanley Koczerga and the late Edward Sweeney.

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Fernandez and Irma (Andreoly) Enos, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.

Gloria's parents opened Palisade Cafe in 1934. They were proudly the first pizza restaurant in New Bedford. Gloria enjoyed reading and traveling. She worked as a "Candy Striper" hospital volunteer in World War II and as an office clerk for the Department of Public Welfare for many years. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi parish in New Bedford.

Survivors include her son, Edward F. Sweeney and his wife Constance of New Bedford; her grandchildren, Justine Cordeiro, Brooke Griffin, Patrick Sweeney, and Brianna Marsh; her niece Andrea Marsh; her nephew Joseph Morrissey; and 8 great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her son Brian Sweeney and her sister Natalie Morrissey.

According to her wishes, a private funeral service and burial will be held.
