Gregory H. Parker, 69, of Mattapoisett died October 9, 2002 at home after complications of multiple myeloma.

He was the husband of Betty (Alden) Parker, and son of the late Burton C. and Doris M. (Prue) Parker.

Mr. Parker was born and raised in Worcester and had lived in the Chicago area for 19 years before retiring to Mattapoisett in 1996.

He was a member of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church.

Mr. Parker was a 1955 graduate of Princeton University and received his MBA from the University of Rhode Island. He later graduated from the Advanced Management Program from Harvard University.

He was an executive in the metals industry serving for many years as president and chief executive officer of Bliss and Laughlin Industries, Inc., a Chicago based NASDAQ listed company which he took private and then public.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years. He was a devoted father to 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law;, Amy E. Cook, and her husband Douglas M. Cook, of Andover, MA, Sarah E. Parker of Danville, VT and Ruth M. Finch, and her husband Stephen R. Finch, of Concord, NH. He was a loving grandfather to Greg, Abby and Benjamin Cook, Parker, Ellen and Julia Finch and Hannah Parker. He was a caring uncle to David, Valerie and Philip Renaud, Susan Frelinghuysen, Stephen Alden and Nancy Olson. He will also be missed by his aunt, Pearl Towle, several cousins and many friends.

He was the brother of the late Joanne Renaud and brother-in-law of the late George Renaud.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service in the Mattapoisett Congregational Church, Monday, October 14th at 11 AM. Interment private.

Visiting hours at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Sunday, October 13th from 4-7 PM.
