Hamilton Sergio Araujo, 39, of Taunton passed away Wednesday April 15, 2026.
He was born on March 10, 1987, in Luanda, Angola, where he spent his early childhood until the age of ten. Growing up in Angola enriched his life with vibrant cultural experiences and a strong sense of community. In December 1997, seeking new opportunities, Hamilton and his sister and grandfather relocated to Portugal, embarking on a journey that would lead to significant changes in their lives.
In 1998, Hamilton moved again, this time to the United States settling in Boston. He adapted to his new surroundings by enrolling in middle school at the Kennedy School, and later attending Burke High School. After completing his education, Hamilton began working as a security guard to help his mother, reflecting his dedication and responsibility toward his family.
In 2018, Hamilton took a major step in his career by joining the Boston Police Academy. His aspiration to serve the community and make a positive impact on the lives of others was a driving force in his life. Hamilton had a passion for traveling, cherishing the opportunity to meet new people and experience different cultures, which added depth and joy to his life. After his graduation he was employed as a campus police officer at Boston College.
In his final days, Hamilton experienced a blend of joy and sadness, desiring to spend time with his sisters, mother, father, and friends. His commitment to family and the meaningful relationships he cultivated were central to his life.
Hamilton Araujo's journey is a testament to resilience, dedication, and a love for life that touched all who knew him. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and the warmth he brought to those around him.
He is survived by his mother, Helena Teixeira Gomes; his father, Andre Araujo; his sisters, Gabriela Araujo, Andréia Araújo, and Luísa Dos Reis; his brother, Marcos Araujo; his nephews, Anthony, Kiluanji, Hunter; his niece, Eleena; and many other extended family members and friends.
His visitation will be held on Saturday April 25th from 8-9:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, with a prayer service at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton at 11:15 AM.
