Hazel (Hughes) Lawrence, 87, of New Bedford died Thursday September 11, 2003 at Bourne Manor. She was the wife of the late Lionel A. Lawrence.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John W. and Grace M. (Griffin) Hughes, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.

Mrs. Lawrence was formerly employed as a turner at the Mutterperl Manufacturing Company.

She was a member of the Buttonwood Senior Citizens.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy C. Adair of Plymouth; a son, Robert W. Lawrence of Ocoee, Florida; a sister, Eleanor Smith of Hartford, CT; 2 grandchildren, Kristin Querim and Robert J. Lawrence; 2 great-grandchildren, Matthew Querim and Bryan Querim; and nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Milton Hughes, Lorin Hughes, Norman Hughes, Burton Hughes, and Thelma Burke.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordMonday September 15, 2003 at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Sunday September 14, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
