Helen P. (Gaughan) Marr, 89, of Dartmouth died October 2, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Clifford Marr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Patrick and Ellen (McKillop) Gaughan, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Marr was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
She was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital for many years.
Mrs. Marr enjoyed traveling with her family and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Survivors include 2 sons, Clifford T. Marr and Michael E. Marr; 5 daughters, Kathleen I. Shorrock, Maureen E. Doherty, Melissa A. Hendricks, Holly Price and her husband Bob and Betsy A. Marr; a sister, Mary Zelin and her husband John; 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; a nephew, Michael Zelin; 2 cousins, Helen Hudon and John J. Finni.
She was the mother-in-law of the late Stephen Doherty and grandmother of the late Heather Shorrock.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Saturday, October 4th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 9 AM. Visiting hours will be on Friday, October 3rd from 6-9 PM.
