Henry R. "Peppy" Pimental, 71, of Fairhaven formerly of New Bedford died Saturday November 16, 2002 at the Oaks Nursing Home after a long illness. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Gomes) Pimental, and son of the late Diniz R. and Adelaide D. (Rezendes) Pimental.
Mr. Pimental was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford for most of his life before moving to Fairhaven last year.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Fairhaven.
Mr. Pimental was formerly employed as a manager at the M&C Restaurant for many years.
Mr. Pimental served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a recipient of the Korean Service medal with one bronze service star, the United Nations Service medal and the National Defense Service medal.He was a member of the New Bedford Sports Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Pvt. A. Poirier Post 3260, and American Legion Post 166.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Wayne Gallant and his wife Linda of Fairhaven; a daughter, Cheryl Antaya and her husband Paul of Fairhaven; 2 brothers, Denis Pimental of Springfield and John Pimental of Acushnet; 3 sisters, Maria Viera and Irene Duarte, both of New Bedford, and Sally Pires of Providence, RI; 3 grandchildren, Ellyn Gallant, Shaun Clattenburg and Kaitlyn Antaya; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordWednesday November 20, 2002 at 9 AM.Funeral Mass St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday November 19, 2002 from 3-7 PM. Burial with Military Honors will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
