Herbert A. Marden, 79, of New Bedford died Wednesday October 10, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital.

Born in Aquinnah, the son of the late Willard M. and Agnes May (Jeffers) Marden, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

Mr. Marden was formerly employed as a fisherman and fish cutter.

He was a member of the Wampanoag Tribe in Aquinnah.

Survivors include seven children, Diane Pacheco, Carol Williams, Herbert Jr., Jeffrey, Michael, Phillip, and Tanya; his siblings, Anna Monteiro, Willard Jr., Leroy, and Lloyd; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Robert, and brother of the late William, Marshall, Robert, Donald, Richard, Stanley, and Wallace.
