Humberto M. Almeida, 68, of New Bedford died January 28, 2006 at home unexpectedly.
He was the husband of the late Adriana (Pereira) Almeida.
Born and raised in St. Michael's Island, Azores, the son of the late Antonio and Almorinda (Medeiros) Almeida, he lived in Taunton before moving to New Bedford.
Mr. Almeida was formerly employed as a licensed general contractor specializing in interior finishing.
An avid soccer fan, his favorite team was Benfíca. He was a member and past president of Associação Acedémica de Fall River.
He enjoyed spending time with his friends.
Survivors include his son, Paul H.P. Almeida of Fairhaven; a daughter, Maria D. Martins of Taunton; a brother, Virginio Almeida; 3 sisters, Lucia Pastor, and her husband Artur, of St. Michael's Island, Azores, Maria Barros of Gault, Ontario, Canada and Alda Milho, and her husband Francisco, of Taunton.; 3 grandchildren, Jason Martins, and his wife Tara, Brandon Martins and Ashley Martins, 2 great-grandchildren, Jeremy Martins and Katelyn Martins; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Antone J. Almeida and the brother-in-law of the late Antero Barros.
His Graveside Service will be held on Friday, February 10th at 11 AM in St. Joseph's Cemetery, 475 East Britannia St., Taunton.
