Iris R.J. (Sadler) Fortes, 70, of New Bedford died November 1, 2004 at Hallmark Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.

She was the wife of the late John Fortes.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Leonard and Rachel (Johnson) Sadler, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

Survivors include two sisters, Ilene L. DaCruz of New Bedford, and Irene L. Gibson, and her husband Dawson, of Ewing, NJ; 5 nieces, Diane Pocknett of Mashpee, Claire DaCruz of New Bedford, Lisa Melchor of Pennsylvania, Karen York and Nancy Williams, both of Roxbury, MA and 2 nephews, Steven DaCruz of Providence and David Gibson of New Jersey; many greatnieces and greatnephews.

She was the sister of the late Ivan Sadler.

Her Funeral Service was private.
