Isabel (Correia) Perry, 72, of New Bedford died Wednesday January 10, 2007 at Sacred Heart Home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Michael A. Perry, who passed away in 1983.
Born and raised in Fairhaven, the daughter of John and Isabel (Pacheco) Correia, she had lived in New Bedford since 1959.
Mrs. Perry was formerly employed ComElectric until her retirement. She had also worked at the Division of Employment Security, the New Bedford School Department as a teacher's aide, and at Revere Copper & Brass.
She was a 1951 graduate of Fairhaven High School, and belonged to the Golden Girls. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society as a Road to Recovery driver until her illness.
Mrs. Perry enjoyed watching her grandchildren in all of their sporting and school activities. She loved to travel with her family and many friends.
Survivors include two sons, Michael A. "Mickey" Perry, Jr. and his wife Violet "Vi", and Edward "Ted"" Perry and his wife Pat, all of New Bedford; two daughters, Ann Marie Oliveira and her husband Scott, and Marianne Santos and her husband Robert, all of Dartmouth; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Amanda, Matthew and Brandon Perry, Scott and Thomas Oliveira, and Paige Santos; a sister, Marie Cathcart, and her husband Vern, of New Bedford; three nieces and five nephews.
She was the sister of the late John "Bingo" Correia.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
