Jacqueline Marie (Sylvia) Kay-Laporte, 72, died surrounded by love from family on August 8, 2024 in Fall River, MA. Her belief in God carried through life which encompassed who she was. Morality was the key to her heart and poured over on those she knew. She will always be remembered for her generosity, wisdom, sense of humor, and witty spirit.

Jackie was born on June 27, 1952 in Acushnet, MA to her parents, John P. Sylvia Jr. and Dorothy (Duarte) Sylvia. Jackie graduated from nursing school and the International Seminary School for Biblical Prophecy.  She worked for over 20 years as a psychiatric nurse (LPN) at Parkwood Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital.

Not only was she an empathetic healthcare provider, Jackie's focus was putting family before herself. She was involved in Christian evangelism, ministries, and donations. Jackie touched the souls of those around her with Godly beliefs and boldness to share the love of Jesus wherever she went.

Jacqueline is survived by her three siblings, John "Jay" Sylvia III of Fairhaven, Jeffrey Sylvia of New Bedford, and Jody (Sylvia) Santos of New Bedford; her four children, Kerri L. Colon-Grey of New Bedford, Jenna L. Pereira of New Bedford, and Michaela K. Butcher of New Bedford, and her son; her eight grandchildren: Kylie Linhares, Elijah Roberts, Emma Roberts, Amare Colon, Jasiel Colon, Dayton Pereira, Alivia Pereira, and baby Evelyn Newbury; along with four beautiful great-grandchildren, Jayel, David, Nehemiah, Hazel; and her partner, Jonathan Josefek. Jackie was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her late father John P. Sylvia Jr. and mother Dorothy Sylvia.

Her memorial service will be held on Friday August 16th at 9:30 AM at the Open Door Baptist Church, 132 Jouvette St., New Bedford.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.  Visitation will be on Thursday August 15th from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.  For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
