James S. "Jim" Hunt, 69, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late James and Vera (Costa) Hunt, he lived in Hawaii and New Bedford most of his life.

Jim enjoyed reading, fishing, watching all New England Sports, and playing Keno and scratch tickets. He loved spending time with his family especially at the family cottage in Mattapoisett. He worked as a Foreman for Neuco for many years.

Survivors include his children, Megan Hunt of Dartmouth and Cristopher Hunt of New Bedford; his sister Madeline Hunt Perry and her husband John; his grandchildren, Raedell London, Lathan Ambrose, Joaquim Ambrose, and Julien Hunt; his Aunts Barbra Hunt and Maureen Cavanaugh; his best friend Ed Dutra; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is predeceased by his sister Catherine Hunt Perry and his former wife Valery (Hiller) Torres.

His memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 4-7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
