James F. McGlynn, Jr., 58, of New Bedford died Friday November 26, 2010 at home after a long illness.

Born in New Bedford, the son of James F. McGlynn and the late Teresa E. (Callanan) McGlynn, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

Mr. McGlynn was formerly employed as a meat manager for Shaw's Supermarkets for 33 years.

He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, where he was a member of the State Championship tennis team. He was also an accomplished golfer.

Survivors include his father; two sons, James F. McGlynn III and his wife Laureen of Arizona and Patrick T. McGlynn of Freetown; and a brother, Rev. Thomas E. McGlynn of St. Mary's Cathedral, Fall River.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 AM at St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
