James E. Murphy, Jr., 42, of New Bedford died March 21, 2016 unexpectedly at home.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Debra A. (Costa) Murphy of New Bedford and the late James E. Murphy, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was formerly employed as a park police officer with the City of New Bedford.
Mr. Murphy was a member of the New Bedford Revolver & Rifle Club.
Survivors include his mother; 2 brothers, Michael Murphy, Sr. of Dartmouth and Jason Murphy of New Bedford; 3 nieces, a nephew and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

His funeral services will be private.
