Jean "JR" Lapointe

Jean R. "JR" Lapointe, 38, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

JR was the beloved son of Stephanie Ogara and her husband Larry and Jean Lapointe and his wife Laura.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sons, Jace Lapointe of Wareham and Jaxon Lapointe and his mother Jocelyn Lipsett of New Bedford. He is also survived by his sister, Shawna Quaglia and her husband Brian, and two nephews, Dexter Pereira and Colton Quaglia.

JR was an amazing cook and always sent his mom out of the kitchen on holidays so he could add salt and spices to his liking. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends, and especially enjoyed having a pig roast or BBQ. He was also an avid fisherman who enjoyed catching and releasing his catch.
