Jeanette (Gomes) Tavares, 66, of New Bedford died Sunday May 3, 3009 at the Oaks Nursing Home.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Richard and Frances (Andrews) Gomes, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.

Survivors include her son David N. Tavares of New Bedford; four brothers, Mario Gomes of Boston, George Gomes and James Gomes both of New Bedford, and Richard Gomes of New Jersey; three sisters, Eva Gomes and Doris Gomes, both of New Bedford, and Rose Gomes of Los Angeles, CA; a granddaughter, Mayleen Tavares of New Bedford; two great-grandchildren, Aliana Liz Tavares and Amir Salih Tavares; and many nieces and nephews.


She was the sister of the late Julia Gomes and Shirley Cerole.

Her Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 5-8 PM prior to the service. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
