Joanne L. (Tripp) Sylvia, 72, of New Bedford died July 29, 2018 peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Russell R. Sylvia.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late George and Mary Edna (Smith) Tripp, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She was formerly employed by J.C. Penney and Shaw's for many years until her retirement.
Survivors include her son, Shannon Sylvia and his wife Peggy of New Bedford; 2 step-children, Shelley Sylvia of New Bedford and Robert Sylvia of Fall River; a sister, Janice Tripp of New Bedford; 5 grandchildren; Dylan, Jordan, Zavier, McKenzie and Kendal; and her best friend, Mary Jo Francis.
