Joao P. Neves, 84, of New Bedford died March 25, 2018 at Tremont Nursing Home in Wareham after a long illness.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the son of the late Joaquim D. and Belmeda (Pina) Neves, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
He enjoyed music.
Survivors include 3 sons, Carlton J. Neves of Acushnet, Wilson J. Neves and Nilton J. Neves, both of New Bedford; 3 brothers, Jose Neves of Kissimmee, FL, David Neves and Joaquim Neves, Jr., both of Cape Verde; 5 sisters, Lydia DePina, Maria Lopes Neves, Ilda Alves and Maria Pina Monteiro, all of New Bedford and Lena Pina Neves of France; 5 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 9 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
