Joaquim C. " Jack" Pacheco, 74, of New Bedford died February 17, 2002 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was the husband of Silvana (Freitas) Pacheco, with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 26, 2001.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Fernando C. and Lourdes (Reis) Pacheco, he had lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He was a communicant of St. James Church.
Mr. Pacheco was formerly employed as a funeral assistant at Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals for 30 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a recipient of the World War II Victory medal.
His love was his grandchildren and going to Foxwoods.
Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, Betty Anne Pavao and her husband Edward, of New Bedford, and Jacqueline M. Faulkner and her husband Mark, of Lakeville; a sister, Fernanda Augusta of New Bedford; 5 grandchildren, Kimberly Pavao, Timothy Pavao, Kristen Pavao, Mark Faulkner, Jr., and Heather Faulkner; and 3 great-grandchildren, Ashley Pavao, Julianna Calheta and Kaylee DaSilva.
He was the brother of the late Rafaela Pacheco.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordThursday, February 21st at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at St. James Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Wednesday, February 20th from 5-8 PM.
Interment St. John's Cemetery.
