John A. Coelho, 63, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 28, 2022.

Born in Terceira, Portugal, John was raised in California and lived in New Bedford most of his life. He was the son of Arquelaide (Ferriera) Coelho and the late Joao da Silva Coelho.

John liked playing basketball, fishing, and watching the 49ers. He was a family man who would do anything to make his kids happy. John served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his mother; his children, Kristina Cardona and her husband Xavier, Brett Bumpus, Desaree Cockrell, and Destanee Odom; his siblings, Edward, George, Joe, Tony, and Filomena Coelho; and his grandchildren, Kiana, Janiya, and Sakari Cardona, Javion Omonira-Cardona, Amarie Cardona and Payton Bumpus;and his nephews, Daniel Coelho and Tony Coelho, Jr.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
