John W. Gonsalves, Jr., 79, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late John and Mary (Gomes) Gonsalves, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.

John was a graduate of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical Highschool and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. John earned his Engineering degree and worked for the Goodyear Company for over 40 years. As a shift manager he worked in many places including Akron, Ohio, and China. He enjoyed playing soccer.

Survivors include his siblings, Lydia and Jeannette Gonsalves, both of Philadelphia, Gerri Gonsalves of Virginia, Mary Gallant and her husband Dennis of Fairhaven, and Antone Gonsalves of New Bedford; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service in John's honor will be held in the summer.
