John H. Lopes, 76, of New Bedford passed away Tuesday June 16, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Hyannis, the son of the late Eugenia (Lopes) Lombard, he lived in East Falmouth most of his life before relocating to New Bedford.

Mr. Lopes was formerly employed by the Aerovox Corporation. Those who knew John were gifted with his sense of humor.

He is survived by two brothers, Donald F. Lombard, Jr. and Joseph Lombard; his dear aunt and Godmother, Julia Correia; and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his stepfather, Donald F. Lombard.

His family would like to thank the staff of Hathaway Manor, especially Maritza Arroyo and Darlene Morrisette, and the staff of Crapo Unit at St. Luke's Hospital for their care and compassion shown to John.
